Pastoral Care

In keeping with our Catholic school aims of educating the whole child, pastoral care within the school focuses on developing a sense of Christian self-responsibility and community in children. We strive to create a holistic approach centering on the human person made in the image and likeness of God.

Pastoral care is embedded in our daily relationships in the way we interact with each other and recognise each person’s sense of well-being, identity and self-worth. Every person in the school community has a responsibility to foster quality interpersonal relationships. This includes teachers, students, parents, support staff, priests and the parish community.

At St Joseph’s School, we aim to create an atmosphere which protects the rights of each individual and group within the community, and where fairness and responsibility for one’s actions encourage the development of self-discipline and nurture individual growth.

Pastoral care in a Catholic school is a natural extension of the evangelical ministry of the Church. It is the responsibility of all, requires cooperation and permeates every aspect of school life; it is based on Catholic values and affirms the dignity and worth of each person.
